If you haven’t yet made plans for this Memorial Day weekend, it’s not too late to make a trip down to the beautiful Hocking Hills! The rainy spring has ensured that the hills are lush and green and the falls are fast, flowing and at their most spectacular!

While you’re in the area, stop by the 3rd Annual Rockbridge Art & Garden Show on Saturday and Sunday. More than 20 artists and crafters will be displaying their work, demonstrating how they create their unique pieces, and Master Gardeners will even be on hand to sell plants and answer questions. All surrounded by the gardens of At Boulder’s Edge Cabin and Tipi Retreat. Music, food and fun will be on hand for the whole family.

If you’d like a short, guided tour of the gorgeous Old Man’s Cave area, meet a park naturalist at the Naturalists’ Cabin near the Old Man’s Cave Visitor Center on Saturday at 10:00am. Discover some of the facts about the history of the area and fantastic rock formations throughout the park.

And on Saturday evening, experience the magic of the Hocking River at twilight. Hocking Valley Canoe Livery’s Flaming Torchlight Canoe Trip is perfect for friends, families, and for romantics, and is complete with a scenic two hour canoe trip, roaring fire upon return, live entertainment, and an old fashioned marshmallow roast.

While you’re in the area, make sure to stop by for lunch or make a reservation for dinner at our award-winning restaurant! There is much going on in the Hocking Hills this Memorial Day weekend. Don’t miss out on the fun! Welcome, and Enjoy!

If you are planning a trip to the beautiful Hocking Hills and would like to learn a little more about the area and its history, the Hocking County Historical Society is a perfect place to visit!

Formed in 1966, the historical society has grown from a dream into a five building complex, offering visitors a look into the history of life in charming Hocking County. Displays include an 1898 Steam Auto, a Conestoga wagon brought from Pennsylvania in 1837, a black walnut piano shipped from New Orleans in 1880, as well as a large and interesting collection of furniture, pictures, books, and artifacts. Poetry by Tessa Sweazy Webb, founder of Ohio Poetry Day, can also be viewed and enjoyed.

The Hocking County Historical Society’s simple goal ‘To preserve the good of the old generations for the good of the new generations’ makes the museum a great FREE family-friendly destination!

The Hocking County Historical Society Museum is located at 64 North Culver Street, Logan, Ohio and is open Wednesday – Friday, 1pm-4pm, and Saturday, 11am- 5pm.

Visit us in the Hocking Hills this spring! Welcome, and Enjoy!

Racing in the Hocking Hills

June 27th, 2010 by Innkeeper, Inn & Spa At Cedar Falls

We’ve had some hot days already this summer in the Hocking Hills. If you are spending some time in the area and need a break from the heat, consider checking out Logan’s new Slot Car Raceway!

Our spa director, Randy Wellman, recently took his kids to try out the track and found it was a great family-friendly activity. It took him back to the days when he was little and he and a buddy mounted a track on a 4×8 piece of plywood and even created a landscape, except this was way better!

7 Caves Raceway has 2 race tracks; the King Track that is 155 feet long and the Hill Climb Track that is 135 feet. They have slot cars for rent or purchase or you are welcome to bring your own. The Raceway is even planning competitions and timed races for racing enthusiasts. Randy found that when another family joined them the fun really began. With four lanes going and two people manning the corner crash stations, everyone had a blast!

Next time you’re in the Hocking Hills stop in to see us at the Inn! And if it’s particularly hot or rainy, check out 7 Caves Raceway. There are endless things to do in the Hocking Hills – plan a trip and find out for yourself!
