Summer’s Sizzling Salute To The Arts

The Lancaster Festival is fast approaching and is sure to be another great event for art and music enthusiasts alike!

Lancaster Festival

From orchestra to celtic music, art to ballet, the Lancaster Festival offers something for everyone and is a fabulous time for the whole family. Taking place July 21 – 30, this year’s festivities start with a world premier performance of English composer Patrick Hawes’ Te Deum courtesy of the Lancaster Chorale and the Festival Orchestra. Day two includes the popular ArtWalk in downtown Lancaster, as well as a Candlelight Concert at First United Methodist Church. The weekend is full of music with sounds of Celtic Fire’s Irish songs, step dancers and musicians, family fun with Festival Fair Day at the historic Fairfield County Fairgrounds, and dance with another world premier when BalletMet performs Pinocchio.

Other great events include The Mr. B Trio Boogie Woogie, The Unforgettable Fire – a U2 tribute concert, Arnett Howard presents An Evening of James Brown and Prince, orchestra concerts, Rising Park Day, lots of free music at the Bandstand, and finally The Beach Boys!

Rain, rain, don’t go away!  Waterfalls are here to stay!  And, it brings flowers in May!   But, a little warmer weather would be nice.

Don’t forget about the wonderful women in your life!  Join us for Mother’s Day on May 8 for a delectable Brunch prepared by Chef Anthony.  We have a few openings left.  Lunch times are from 11:30-1:30 and reservations are required.

Our American Red Cross Blood Drive was a huge success.  We almost doubled our numbers from last fall.  Many thanks to our hard working inn team of Nancy, Erica, Katherine and Keegan who helped recruit people to donate.  The following staff all donated:  Ellie, Nicole, Peggy, Gerard, Debbie, Rita, Joan, Megan, Keegan, Katherine, Nancy, Terry and Ellen.  An extra special thanks goes to guest and Red Cross volunteer Cindy Henry for all her help at registration.  Thanks so much everyone!  Our next Blood Drive is November 5.

Being prepared for emergencies is important.  Inn staff complete CPR training every other year as a refresher course.  This year the following people participated:  Anthony, Gerard, Stephanie, Randy, Ellie, Kellie, Tim, Ellen and Rita.

Lots of fun events coming up in early summer.  Start to plan your summer getaway now.  Here are a few in June.  Don’t miss the only Washboard Music Festival in the world on June 17-18.  Calling all dads for our Father’s Day BBQ on June 19. And, learn about Summer CookInn with Chef Anthony on June 29.

Parade of the Hills

Nelsonville’s 61st annual Parade of the Hills is this week and is sure to have something fun for everyone!

Taking place August 18-21, the Parade of the Hills festival is four days of music, arts, food, parades, and more. Wednesday kicks off the festivities with Athletic Day events and of course a ‘Welcome Home Parade’. Thursday is the 11th annual Pie Contest and Auction and Friday features the Ohio State Fiddling Contest. Saturday rounds out the festival with ‘Run for the Hills/Race for Life’ and the ‘Grande Parade’.

The Family Fun Park and Taste of Nelsonville Vendors are open each afternoon and every evening look for live entertainment on multiple stages.

Nelsonville is just a short drive from the Inn and there is still time to plan a fun and restful weekend in the Hocking Hills before the end of summer!

The Lancaster Festival

If you have come to the Inn from Columbus, you have probably passed through the town of Lancaster on your way. Founded in 1800, Lancaster was the home of General William T. Sherman, among other famous politicians, and boasts the oldest fair in continuous operation.

Next week is a great time to experience the charm and history of this quaint, historical city, and enjoy some fabulous music while you’re at it!

July 22-31 the entire city turns out for the Lancaster Festival, a week-long music, art, and family fun extravaganza. From classic music by Olga Kern and the famed Lancaster Festival Orchestra to superstar Kenny Rogers, there is something for everyone. Other talents will include cover groups Classical Mystery Tour – A tribute to the Beatles and Frontiers: A Journey Tribute, favorite Arnett Howard and Celtic group Lone Raven.

Festival Fair Day at the Fairfield County Fairgrounds on Saturday, July 24 and Rising Park Day at Rising Park on Thursday, July 29 are just two of the great family-friendly activities going on.  There will also be an Art Walk, Italian Street Painting, Bike Races for Kids, and much more!

Take a trip to Lancaster and enjoy all that the Lancaster Festival has to offer! When you’re done enjoying the activities, it’s just a short trip to the Inn and the peace and relaxation that can be found in the Hocking Hills!

Ohio’s Most Unique Music Festival

If you are looking for a good time this weekend, Logan’s 10th Annual Washboard Music Festival might be just the thing!

This year the festivities start off with Central Ohio’s music legend, Arnett Howard and his Friends on Thursday evening, June 17. The fun and great music continue on Friday and Saturday with Dixieland Jazz, Cajun Zydeco, Celtic, and Skiffle musical artists and more.

Wholesome family entertainment is promised, along with great food, quality craft vendors, a Saturday evening parade, antique tractor and hit n’ miss engines, free carnival rides, games and much more.

Don’t forget to tour the Columbus Washboard Company, the last manufacturer of washboards in the country and the home of the world’s largest washboard!

The Inn is just a short drive outside of Logan. Join the fun at the Washboard Festival in Logan and then retire to the peace and tranquility of one of our cabins or cottages. Kick off the summer in Logan and the Hocking Hills this weekend!
