There’s something for everyone in the Hocking Hills, and poker players are no exception! The Friends of the Hocking Hills State Park is hosting their Annual Spring Poker Run on Saturday, May 18, and it is shaping up to be another great ride!
Enjoy a ride through the beautiful Hocking Hills, including stops at Old Man’s Cave, the Rockhouse, Ash Cave, Hocking Hills Motorcycle Ranch, and Cedar Falls, to name a few. All while playing poker! Door prizes, 50/50, and more will be included, with over $2,000 in cash and prizes being given away. The cost is just $20 for a single rider, $25 for a couple if you’re a member of the Friends of the Hocking Hills State Park, and $25 for single, $30 for a couple for non-members.

Longtime married couple Julie and Jeff first visited us at the Inn & Spa at Cedar Falls in 2011 after a friend recommended this hideaway as the perfect way to escape life’s hustle
and bustle. After a scenic drive from Michigan, the two pulled up to Dogwood, one of our secluded cabins that offers a respite from the world here in
Ohio’s stunning Hocking Hills.
According to Julie, our gorgeous fall weather, combined with the cozy cabin, left her and her husband feeling as if they’d stepped into a wonderful dream. In fact, after their first stay, they were hooked. Before leaving for home that October, they booked another stay for just a month later to join us for Thanksgiving dinner. Ever since, the pair has spent Thanksgiving at the Inn.
“Every time we visit, the Inn compresses all of our relaxation desires into one unforgettable stay,” said Julie.
Jeff serves our country in the U.S. military and is stationed in Afghanistan, which would be stressful for any couple. So the pair makes it a point to visit to the Inn before each deployment. The Inn staff and its owners are grateful to Jeff for his service and we’re honored that they choose us to help them unwind and bond. “Taking that special time together is essential for any marriage”, Julie said. “It’s important for us to get back to the romance. Day-to-day life sometimes forces couples to
take each other for granted; it’s vital for two people to get away to reconnect.”
When we asked Jeff and Julie to describe the Inn, three words came to mind: Heaven on Earth. “This is not your chain hotel.” said Julie. “The atmosphere is so personal and totally unlike a touristy resort. If you are looking for high-end quality in a really natural and peaceful setting, this is it!”
Julie encourages and anyone who hasn’t visited to do so right away, adding that the owners and staff of the Inn are personable and always go out of their way to meet their requests and make their stay extra special. According to Julie, escaping Internet and phones allows them to truly disconnect from distractions of the outside world. ”We truly feel alone here. We even like to bring our dog, Ginger, so it’s as if we’ve come home.”
The couple fell so in love with the Inn that they decided to bring the Inn home with them. They purchased the same fine-quality sheets and bathrobes the Inn offers guests, from the gift shop.
“But really, we wish we could just pack up our lives in Michigan and live at the Inn & Spa at Cedar Falls, said Julie. “The Inn is our favorite vacation spot. You simply have to see it to believe it.”

Every year the Washboard Festival in Logan, Ohio brings thousands of people to celebrate the ‘enduring role the washboard has had on music styles from jazz to jug band to zydeco.’ Featuring more than 40 musical acts, as well as arts and crafts, great food, free tours of the Columbus Washboard Company, antique tractors and hit’n miss engines, a parade, and more, this festival is sure to have something for everyone! rrior Dash is returning to the Hocking Hills next month, and for those of you who are looking forward to mud crawling and fire leaping, we have just the package to complete your weekend!

The Warrior Dash takes place June 2 and 3 in Logan, Ohio, and is a crazy, wild, challenging obstacle course celebration that includes 3.5 miles of Capsized Catamaran’s, Deadmans Drops, Cargo Climbs, Warrior Roasts, Muddy Mayhem, and more. The Dash takes place at Kaeppner Woods and awards are given out for the best participants, more ridiculous costumes and best warrior beard, while spectators enjoy live music, food, and beer.

nter Hike!
The frozen waterfalls and ice formations make for a breathtaking back drop as you trek the 6 miles from Old Man’s Cave to Ash Cave. Better known as the ‘Grandma Gatewood Trail’, the trail is named after the first woman to walk the Appalachian Trail, at the age of 67, no less!
Taking place on Saturday, January 21, this very popular event brings more than 5,000 hikers every year and is free for the whole family. The park offers continuous starts from 9am – 11am at the Old Man’s Cave Visitor’s Center, and shuttles are provided to transport hikers back from Ash Cave. Layered clothing and good footwear are recommended and refreshments will be available at Cedar Falls.
When you’ve finished the hike, warm up in front of the fire in our Fireside Lounge or in any of our cabins or cottages! Relax with a massage at our Spa, and enjoy a delicious gourmet dinner in our award-winning restaurant!
