Events & Festivals

The Hocking Hills of Ohio abounds with monthly events and festivals. Festivals, art shows, music fairs, events for the entire family. Visit the Hocking Hills Tourism Association a full list. But some of our favorites are:

January

19 Annual Winter Hike Meet at the visitor center parking area on Saturday, January 19 to take the six mile trek from Old Man’s Cave to Ash Cave with a quick stop at Cedar Falls for bean soup and hot chocolate. There will be continuous starts 9 AM until 11 AM.

February

16 Sweetheart Hike at Ash Cave 5-7pm Take your sweetheart on a romantic stroll to Ash Cave in the soft light of dusk. Afterward, enjoy a cozy fire and refreshments. Meet at the Ash Cave parking area.

March

9-10 Maple Sugaring in the Hills 12-4pm Located at the Naturalist Cabin located behind the Old Man’s Cave Visitor Center and savor the taste of the season as we boil down our local maple sap. Discover the many methods used throughout history to make this tasty treat. Free samples are available.

April

19-21 Shoot the Hills Photography Contest All photographers are invited to join Ohio’s largest photo contest. More than $5,000 in cash and prizes will be awarded to winners at the conclusion of the 3-day photography event.

20 Wildflowers and Waterfalls Hike 10am Observe nature’s carpet of wildflowers and sparkling waterfalls in the beautiful Hocking Hills. Meet at the Ash Cave parking lot for this annual event.

2-5 Vinton County Wild Turkey Festival Enjoy live music, rides and delicious food in a small-town setting.

10-12 International Migratory Bird Weekend  Join area naturalists, biologists and birding enthusiasts to celebrate International Migratory Bird Day, May 8th with a weekend of events.

18 Hocking Hills Spring Poker Run 9:30am – 6:00pm There is nothing like spring in the Hocking Hills. Enjoy the colors of summer coming to life during the Spring Poker Run! $2500 in cash and prizes to given away!

June

13-15 Washboard Music Festival Celebrate the 13th anniversary of The Washboard Music Festival in downtown Logan, the heart of the beautiful Hocking Hills. Ohio’s Most Unique Music Festival takes place on Father’s Day weekend every year. It features events, a children’s park with free rides and entertainment.

July 

12-14 Lilyfest If you love art, gardens and music, come enjoy the lovely woodland setting at scenic Bishop Educational Gardens, 13200 Little Cola Rd., Rockbridge. Throughout the beautiful gardens, there will be more than 70 fine area artists and craftspersons displaying, demonstrating and marketing their products.

17-20 Fireman’s Old Time Festival From nightly fish fries, entertainment and a midway with rides, to a talent show, cake auction and square dancing, this annual festival in Laurelville packs a lot of fun for the whole family into three nights and a Saturday.

18-27 Lancaster Festival Ohio’s largest music festival. Featuring music, art and dance and the Lancaster Festival Orchestra.

August

14-17 Parade of the Hills An annual celebration of community pride and Appalachian spirit. Featuring live nightly entertainment, the original State of Ohio Old-Time Fiddlers Championship, 5k races for adults & children and an assortment of dining options, children’s entertainment and games, carnival rides and more.

September

9-14 Hocking County Fair Enjoy entertainment and fun for the whole family. Truck & tractor pulls, gospel music, animal shows, entertainment by Buffo the Clown, demolition derbies, moto-cross and Tough Track competition to name a few.

13-15 Ohio Pawpaw Festival 11th Annual Pawpaw Festival – the biggest and best in the world! Join pawpaw fanatics from around the country at the peak of the season for a couple of days filled with everything pawpaw.

15 Vinton County Air Show 43rd  Annual Vinton County Air Show and it will be spectacular! At least eight performers, Ohio University’s DC-3, homebuilt experimental aircraft and ultra-lights on display. Hang gliders, parachute jumps and candy drop will also be featured. Barbequed chicken and other food and drinks will be available all day.

21 Hocking Hills Indian Run 5K, 10K, 20K, 40K and 60K races beginning at the Hocking Hills State Park Dining Lodge, with the trail winding through vast wooded areas of the State Park and Hocking State Forest, crossing streams, deep gorges, shimmering waterfalls, lush forests and country roads, leading uphill and down.\

28-29 Hocking Hills Artists & Craftsmen Annual Fall Show Hand-crafted objects from area artists for visitors to admire and purchase. A popular annual event for area residents and visitors alike.

October

12 Grandma Gatewood’s Fall Colors Hike Bring along a cool drink and celebrate the season’s colors. Meet with the naturalist at the Old Man’s Cave Visitor Center for a strenuous hike that spans roughly 6 miles of the Grandma Gatewood trail.

12 Tombstone Travels History comes alive in Old Logan Cemetery with Tombstone Travels. Meet the spirits of the first Mayor of Logan, the first Postmistress, and the Librarian, returning for one evening only to regale you with stories of their lives and the events of their day.

16-19 Circleville Pumpkin Show  “The Greatest Free Show On Earth!” Pumpkin food, contests, crafts, amusement rides and daily parades.

November

9 Frontier Trail Hike 12-4pm Explore the history of the Hocking Hills region with a walk back through time, dramatized by costumed interpreters along the Ash Cave trail.

December

14 Christmas in Ash Cave 5-7pm Step away from the hectic holiday season and come bundled for the weather while enjoying a lighted stroll back to Ash Cave. Once you arrive at the cave, warm with refreshments by an open fire. Listen to our holiday music, have the kids visit with an old fashioned Santa or help to decorate our Christmas tree for wildlife.
