Holidays at the Inn

November 15th, 2012 by Innkeeper, Inn & Spa At Cedar Falls

Dear Friends,

As fall ends, we start to “dress for the holidays”.  Kellie and Scott will put the finishing touches after Thanksgiving.  Need to de-stress prior to all the festivities, this is the perfect time of year to visit.  Treat yourself to some R&R, a delectable dinner and sooth those sore muscles with a massage at the spa.  In case, you still need a gift for the special someone in your life, don’t forget we sell gift certificates.

Recently, we’ve been busy with lots of press coverage.  Articles about us appeared in CEO Columbus, AAA Home & Away, Midwest Living and Business First. We are still waiting to hear that the Hocking Hills is a final go for a movie production on the book the Crooked Tree.  Also, the Inn is being considered for a reality TV series.  Stay tuned on that one!  And, we just finished hosting travel writers, bloggers and AAA agents.

October 29th, 2012 by Innkeeper, Inn & Spa At Cedar Falls

It is almost time for Dine Originals Week, and at the Inn we’re excited to be a part of the event once again.

Taking place November 12-18, Dine Originals Week is a perfect opportunity to visit some of your favorite, original restaurants – and to try some new ones! Designed to celebrate, support, and promote locally owned and operated restaurants, Dine Originals has grown to 50 members throughout Columbus and the surrounding area. Many of these restaurants will be featuring special, fixed price menu options throughout the week.

Our Chef Anthony has designed a delicious three-course option for those who visit for Dine Originals Week. Look forward to Smoked Duck Flat Bread with Roasted Shitake Mushrooms, Cilantro Sour Cream, Baby Spinach & Balsamic Vinaigrette.  Move on to Blackened Flat Iron Steak with Gorgonzola & Bourbon Demi Glaze, and finish with Apple Galette with Cardamom Creme Anglaise and Caramel Sauce. All 3 courses for only $30!

Visiting a Dine Originals restaurant for Dine Originals Week not only supports locally owned, independent businesses, but a percentage of all proceeds from the week will support Local Matters’ Food Matters, a holistic foods education program that promotes health and wellness for Pre-K through second grades.

September INNformation at Cedar Falls

August 31st, 2012 by Innkeeper, Inn & Spa At Cedar Falls

Dear Friends,

September officially kicks off celebrating 25 years in business.  And, we couldn’t have launched it a better way than with our August party. Returning Chef Michael Braddock, along with his partner Adrienne Novak, served a dynamite dinner on Saturday night.  Sunday followed with a celebratory open house.  About 200 guests, old and new, came to the festivities.  An elegant dinner served by our own Chef Anthony concluded the weekend by honoring long time guests and friends who have contributed in so many ways over the years.  Again, we thank and salute all of you. View Photos here.

Using watermelon, enjoy this final days of summer salad.  Chef Anthony created a Watermelon, Mint and Watercress Salad that’s sure to liven up any party or your family dinner.

Chef Anthony says, “I like this melon salad, because it’s summer all laid back with a little bite to it, just like the heat of summer. Juicy watermelon, mint and the bite of watercress is amazing together and the sweet mirin vinaigrette puts it altogether.”

Click here for the recipe and photo.

Randy Wellman, Spa Manager, has suggestions for you to make the most of your stay with us and enjoy our spa too.  See his “New Twist on an Old Favorite”.

Fall is here.  It is a beautiful time of the year in the Hocking Hills. Also, it is one of the busiest times for the Spa at Cedar Falls.  Our “quaint and cozy” spa fills up fast especially on the weekends.  We suggest that if you are interested in spa services during your stay you make your reservation well in advance of  your arrival.

If the “prime times” of Saturday are filled up, here are some ideas for other spa appointment options.

Many guests enjoy arriving early on Friday in time for lunch in our restaurant.  Then, they go to the spa at 1:45pm.  After your spa treatment and you are relaxed, you can check into your accommodation and take a nap.  Sunday morning appointments are also a great way to end your stay with us.  After hiking all day on Saturday, leave us feeling extra rested and relaxed.

If you can get away during the weekdays, the area is just as beautiful but a lot less crowded making it seem even more special.

——————————————————————————————————————————–

Interested in a “guided hike”, especially if you are staying with us for a corporate meeting or family reunion?  Consider contacting Hocking Hills Guided Hikes.  They have trails and hikes in out of the way places that are not at the typical state parks.  Contact them at hockinghillsadventuretrek.com or 740-777-2579.

——————————————————————————————————————————–

Many women stay with us for a personal retreat.  (Some husbands even send them for a break from the kids.) Nothing is more important than your health.  While we excel at taking care of your every need for quiet reflective time, wholesome food and spa therapies, sometimes you need to extend that once you return home.  Consider participating in a women’s health series.  Check out the holistic information at maggiemck.com.
