Green Policy
The Inn is proud to be a Level II Green Certified business in Hocking Hills. The following are ways in which the Inn is working to become more green and earth friendly. We share these ideas with you in hopes you might help us here and take some of the suggestions home.
- Use saran wrap on sandwiches instead of using so many “to go boxes”
- Use “Recycled Hoagie Bags” for sandwiches instead of boxes
- Reusable containers for lunches
- Use recycled paper products
- Use dish water as mop water
- Reuse garbage bags when possible (empty together)
- Reuse previous printed paper in computer printer
- Use liquid soap and save soap bars
- Wash laundry with cold water whenever possible
- Switch to environmentally safe products
- Start a linen (both towels and sheets) reuse program in all rooms
- Ask during reservation process if guest wants to participate in our “conserve and cut down” program by using our towel and room refresher card
- Make laundry bags out of retired sheets
- Install low flow showerheads and sink aerators
- Switch to low flow toilets or install toilet tank fill diverters
- Switch to compact fluorescent light bulbs in guestrooms or use sensors in infrequently used areas
- Install dimmer on light switches
- Keep heat turned down in cabins, cottages and rooms
- Leave heat/AC on one setting and not turn it up and down
- Use less paper by reducing size of paper used
- Our current Spa products are natural and environmentally conscious
- Offer organic healthy snacks
- Offer discount rates to sustainable living/environmental organizations who would like to stay at or hold meetings at property
- Recycle plastic garden benches
- Repaved all driveways with recycled concrete & blacktop
