Outdoor enthusiasts visit Hocking Hills State Park from far and wide each year to participate in the Hocking Hills Winter Hike! This annual activity is a 6-mile treck from Old Man’s Cave to Ash Cave. Enjoy spectacular views of snow and ice along the trail! This hike takes about five hours to complete, and there’s a festival in downtown Logan afterward. This is the perfect way to challenge yourself in a fun setting. More than 5,000 people embark on this hike each year, which creates an electric atmosphere! What You Need to Know About the 55th Annual Hocking Hills Winter Hike 

Everything You Need to Know About the Route 

The 55th Annual Hocking Hills Winter Hike is set to take place on Saturday, Jan. 18, 2020. There will be a continuous start from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. When you’re ready to embark on your journey, head to the starting point at the Hocking Hills State Park campground. From there, small groups of participants are led on a guided hike to the Upper Falls of Old Man’s Cave. Then, hike at your own pace until you reach the final destination. 

Don’t miss the halfway point at Cedar Falls! There’s always delicious food and drink to be had. Fill up on hearty bean soup, homemade cornbread, and refreshments before you take on the latter half of this journey. Feel free to look around, explore, and take photos when you arrive at Ash Cave. When you’re finished exploring, there will be a shuttle ready to take you back to the start. 

The hike, food, and shuttle are free, however, donations are always appreciated! Back at the start, enjoy post-hike activities. This details of this year’s celebration haven’t been released yet, but it’s always a wonderful time! 

Attend the Post-Hike Logan Frozen Festival 

Wrap up your day in Historic Downtown Logan for the Logan Frozen Festival. This event will take place from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., so swing by after you wrap up the hike! Enjoy amazing ice sculptures, games, a concert, and food and drink vendors. The Logan Ice Festival is the perfect bookend to your day of hiking.
