Tips on Planning Your Pet-Friendly Getaway to the Hocking Hills

1. How Can I Spend Time With My Pup in the Hocking Hills?

Pet-Friendly Things to Do & Activities in the Hocking Hills

During your trip, be sure to explore the outdoors with your furry friend. Some of the best Hocking Hills dog-friendly hiking trails are just a stone’s throw away from your pet-friendly rental. Leashed dogs are welcome to traverse popular Hocking Hills State Park attractions, including:

  • Hocking Hills State Parks:You can explore over 10 miles of scenic trails that wind through the parks and experience beautiful scenery, fresh air, and some one-on-one time with your pal. A few dog-friendly areas include:
  • Old Man’s Cave: This moderate, 1-mile trail features waterfalls, deep gorges, and natural rock formations. Pet owners and their four-legged friends should take care when hiking near the steep cliffs and on rocks near the waterfalls, which can be slippery.
  • Cedar Falls: This short trail winds through valleys and gorges and ends at the breathtaking 50-foot waterfall, formed by years of water flowing over sandstone. Make sure your pet can handle climbing about 100 steps to and from the falls.
  • Ash Cave Gorge: The largest recess cave in Ohio, Ash Cave has a rim that spans more than 700 feet and a 90-foot waterfall plunges into the valley below. The trail is an easy, leisurely walk for pets and owners and is perfect for admiring the beauty of Hocking Hills.

For even more hiking trails, head to Wayne National Forest. Additionally, dogs are welcome to hike and splash outside of the designated swim area at Lake Logan State Park. With so many dog-friendly things to do in the Hocking Hills area, bringing Fido along on your next vacation in a no-brainer!
