About This Historic Train
The star of the Hocking Valley Scenic Railway is its historic train. This train is comprised of enclosed coaches as well as open-air cars that were once freight cars. All parts of this historic train are from the early to mid-1900s, which allows passengers to step back in time! Once aboard, this full-size train follows along a route that was once a major passageway from southern Ohio to Columbus.
Special Train Ride Options
The Hocking Valley Scenic Railway offers more than a dozen thematic train ride options. The most popular ride is Ohio’s Friendliest Train Robbery. This two-hour experience simulates a train robbery. Before boarding, each passenger is given “play money” which the “robbers” take once they seize the train. This simulation is designed to be family-friendly and non-threating, which makes it a great activity for all ages!
Or, purchase tickets for a holiday-themed ride. These include the Santa Christmas Train Ride, Easter Bunny Train Ride & Egg Hunt, Memorial Day Train, and more. During autumn, these train rides are a great way to view Hocking Hills fall foliage! All train rides take place on Saturdays and Sundays and depart from the Nelsonville Train Depot.
