Learn About the Hocking Hills Artists and Craftsmen Association

Hocking Hills artists and craftsmenWhen you go to visit a new town, for most of us, we get immersed in that town while we are staying there. We try and learn all that we can about the history, hot spots, best restaurants, and many more. Around here in Hocking Hills, we are known for some of the most beautiful views, caves, waterfalls, and trails around. Another way that visitors get to know our area is by visiting local merchants. Finding little odds and ends to take back home makes a trip worthwhile and allows you to admire and relive the memories for years to come. We at Inn at Cedar Falls love recommending our guests to visit the Hocking Hills artists and craftsmen when they can. Each of them unique, you are surely to find something that you will love.

The Hocking Hills Artists and Craftsmen Association is a group of like minded people who enjoy not only making items with their hands, they also enjoy sharing them with the world. They can find any occasion to make something themselves and take pride in their work. They have monthly meetings and are featured in locations throughout the area. What is great about the Hocking Hills artists and craftsmen is that while they are a group, you can also enjoy the artists individually. Many of them are featured on their artist page and many of them have websites as well as store addresses where you can peruse their crafts for yourself.

We also wanted to highlight some of the interesting Hocking Hills artists and craftsmen that are in the association. The first of the Hocking Hills artists and craftsmen that we want to mention is Waldena Hendrix. While her craft has been around for many years, her talent is unlike any other. She is a pine needle artist that weaves needles into bowls, jewelry, baskets, and more. The colors and time that it takes to make a piece of her artwork make it worth every penny you spend. Next on our list of Hocking Hills artists and craftsmen is JoAnne Myers. She is a long time native to the Hocking Hills area and has written many books and when she isn’t doing that she enjoys capturing the beauty of our area on canvas. Be sure to check out her site to see experts from books as well as pictures of painting. The last Hocking Hills artists and craftsmen we want to highlight is Jerry Swank from Lucky Levi’s Leather. He makes some of the most beautiful leather products around. He makes an assortment of items from saddle bags, for motorcycles or horses, to chaps, gun holsters, and purses. Each item of his is carefully crafted by hand individually. While he does have some stock items, most of them are custom made.

Now that you have gotten to know some of the Hocking Hills artists and craftsmen, you might want to know where you can find a group of them together. The first thing to do would be to check their Facebook page which is updated regularly with information. Also, mark your calendars for the end of September for their Fall Show. This is where all of the Hocking Hills artists and craftsmen get together and show off all of their crafts for the public. This is a wonderful show that locals and visitors alike love to attend.
