Everything You Need to Know About Spotted Horse Ranch

Are you looking for a great way to get outdoors on your next Hocking Hills getaway? If so, consider spending a day at Spotted Horse Ranch. With over 25 miles of trails on 500 acres of land, Spotted Horse Ranch is the perfect place to enjoy a horseback riding excursion. You’ll find friendly horses, knowledgeable wranglers, and breathtaking views of the Hocking Hill landscape. Here’s why a trip to the ranch should be on your to-do list.

The Best Things to Do at Spotted Horse Ranch

Make Friends with the Horses

One of the first things you’ll notice about Spotted Horse Ranch is that the facility is true to its name. The horses that roam the property are all spotted Appaloosa horses, many of which were born right on the ranch. All of them have laid-back personalities, sure-footedness, and a great sense of humor!

Go Horseback Riding

Whether you want to spend an hour on the trails or explore all day long, Spotted Horse Ranch has a horseback riding excursion for you. A one-hour guided trail ride is perfect for families with younger children and includes a brief riding demonstration and lesson. Two-hour rides and large group rides are also available. For the ultimate riding experience, we suggest taking the Cowboy Cookout Ride. This full-day journey offers several hours of guided horseback riding followed by an authentic cowboy meal and some storytelling.

Bring Your Own Horse

If you’re able to bring your own horse on your Hocking HiIls vacation, Spotted Horse Ranch offers scenic self-guided tours of the property. For a small $10 day-rider fee, you can explore the region’s most scenic landscape all on your own! When it’s time to head back to the Inn & Spa at Cedar Falls, you can pay to board your horse at the ranch for the duration of your trip.

Explore the Ranch

Many visitors are surprised to learn that Spotted Horse Ranch is a real, working ranch. Guests can walk around the property to see a wide range of livestock including cows, pigs, sheep, lambs, turkeys, deer, and water buffalo.

Camp Out

Want to spend a night under the stars? Feel free to set up your tent or trailer on the ranch campground. All of the campsites are equipped with electricity and water for horses, and showers and bathrooms are just a short walk away. There are also covered stalls available for your horses. The fee to camp at the ranch is $10.
